National Workshop on “Addressing the Needs of Students with Learning Differences” Held at College of Education and Languages

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the College of Education and Languages, Department of English Language, hosted a national workshop titled “Addressing the Needs of Students with Learning Differences.” The workshop provided educators with strategies to better support students with diverse learning needs.

The first session, led by Asst. Lect. Lana Dlawar Miran from the Department of English Language at Lebanese French University, focused on practical approaches for creating an inclusive classroom environment for students with learning challenges like dyslexia, ADHD, and processing disorders. She shared effective teaching techniques and strategies to modify instruction to meet the individual needs of students, ensuring accessibility and success for all learners.

The second session, presented by Asst. Lect. Bestoon Saleh, also from Lebanese French University, addressed the importance of understanding various learning preferences. He highlighted how visual, kinaesthetic, and auditory learners engage with material differently, stressing the need for a personalized teaching approach. He also discussed common challenges faced by students with learning differences, such as academic struggles, social-emotional issues, low self-esteem, behavioural concerns, and limited resources. The session emphasized the importance of identifying these challenges to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
