The establishment of the Department of Law at Lebanese French University coincided with the establishment of the university itself in 2007 in the light of the interest of Kurdistan region in reinforcing the standard of the legal culture, in order to provide legal and judicial institutions with the graduates specialized with both the theoretical and applied legal sciences, so as to participate in the developmental revival taking place in Kurdistan region at the level of all fields.

Mission
Department of Law will play a basic and an essential role in promoting the standard of the highly-specialized legal culture of the graduates of legal studies at Lebanese French University. Twinning and interaction will also be made between both the theoretical and applied aspects of our studies in order to prepare highly-qualified graduates of law, who will be able to be active in their career, and cover the demands of the labour market, as soon as they are being graduated.
The elevation and improvement of the highly-specialized legal culture will require that the quality of the students be classified among higher scientific standards. The department of law is also tasked with selecting well-experienced academic staff and faculty with advanced academic titles as well as preparing a well-established library, using modern teaching and training methods containing the state-of-the art technology of communicating information, keeping pace with latest legislations. The department of law is also concerned with cooperating with its counterparts at other universities, besides activating the movement of scientific research, and providing its prerequisites whether they be teaching materials or applied pieces of research.
