Lebanese French University Hosts Workshop on Epidemiology of HPV-Associated Cervical Cancer
Erbil, February 4, 2026 – The Lebanese French University (LFU) organized an insightful workshop titled “Epidemiology of HPV-Associated Cervical Cancer”, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hadi Mahdi. The event brought together faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals to explore one of the most pressing issues in women’s health.
Dr. Mahdi highlighted the global burden of cervical cancer, emphasizing its strong association with persistent infection by high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types. He discussed regional disparities in incidence and mortality, stressing the importance of vaccination and screening programs in reducing the disease’s impact.
The interactive session included case studies, group discussions, and practical insights into public health strategies. Participants engaged in dialogue about challenges facing low-resource settings and the role of universities in advancing medical knowledge and community health education.
