On February 9,2026 Department of General Education at the College of Education & Languages hosted a national University Workshop on CLIL for Multilingual Higher Education presented by A. L. Aga Abdala
The workshop was designed for university lecturers and focused on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) as an effective approach for teaching in multilingual higher education contexts. Participants explored how academic content can be taught through an additional language while maintaining academic rigor and supporting students’ language development.
During the session, Mr. Aga Ismael Abdalla introduced the 4Cs Framework of CLIL (Content, Communication, Cognition, and Culture) and demonstrated practical strategies that lecturers can apply before, during, and after lectures. The workshop emphasized interactive teaching methods, student engagement, and inclusive practices that value multilingualism as an asset rather than a challenge.
The workshop also provided lecturers with opportunities to experience CLIL through hands-on activities and discussions, encouraging reflection on assessment practices and the role of language in learning at the university level.
This initiative supports the University’s commitment to academic quality, internationalization, and inclusive education, and contributes to strengthening teaching practices in multilingual classrooms.
