On Thursday, 11/11/2021, Kurdish Department in College of Education and Languages organized a national workshop titled (the negative effects of social media on students’ psychology and personalities and strategies on how to benefit from the modern technology). The workshop’s first session was presented by assistant lecturer Mohammed Qolmarfi. He addressed the reasons for having such workshops in order to raise students’ awareness of the social media. The workshop’s second session was presented by Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatani. Dr. Karim discussed some important points about the issue and warned the attendees to be aware of using social media well otherwise it might affect their psychology and result in social and intellectual problems. Then, attendees raised questions and were answered by Dr. Karim. In the end, the presidency of the university awarded Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatani.
Workshop outcomes:
1. students to be aware of using social media and stay away from them because it has bad effect on their scientific life and may cause problems.
2. if social media is not used wisely, it will be the source for disturbance and problems on the individual and societal levels.

1. Muhammad Qolmarfi, MA holder in Kurdish literature. Currently, he is teaching in Kurdish Department, Lebanese French University.
2. Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatani, PhD in psychology. Currently, he is teaching in University of Sulaimani.
