Program Overview

The goal behind the establishment of the Department of Arabic Language and Translation is to graduate skilled youth in the languages ​​spoken by the people who possess geographical, cultural and civilizational value in the world, which helps in the civilized, cultural, social as well as intellectual communication through living languages ​​is one of the most important tools of the era that aid progress and creative coexistence Just as building an advanced society in the region cannot take place without effective communication with the developed countries that surround us in the world, as well as other promising peoples.

Department of Arabic Language provides Bachelor degree in Arabic language and translation which is aspiring to be a pioneer in the field of language and translation in the Kurdistan Region. This is through the adaptation of a specialized qualitative program that adopts a modern, advanced scientific teaching methodology characterized by diversity in teaching methods, and the use of technology and modern teaching methods in all the program’s tracks and levels of study, based on providing an in-depth amount of knowledge to its students, in addition to giving them a sufficient amount of the applied aspect in translation, written and oral. At the top of the priorities of the Department of Arabic Language and Translation comes the linguistic preparation of those enrolled in it, providing them with an extensive amount of knowledge, increasing their linguistic knowledge and linguistic competence, and increasing their cultural information that affects the Arabic language, which lays the groundwork for creating bridges of knowledge communication with Arabic- and English-speaking people in various parts of the world and lead them to have distinct capabilities and abilities in translation, both written and oral. Over the course of four academic years, the student in the Department of Arabic Language and Translation studies several subjects that include language skills courses, and others in theoretical linguistics, as well as courses in translation as the main track in the department’s program.

The students in this department will obtain a bachelor’s degree after completing their studies for a period of four years and with eight semesters the student collects 158 units.

Teaching Methods

The principles of modern pedagogy will be used to facilitate and enable learning in the field of Arabic language and translation

The method of cooperative education, which is based on the gathering of students in the form of small groups, they interact positively; So that the student feels responsible for his own learning and also for teaching others in order to achieve common goals, and this type of education increases the student’s educational attainment, and also increases the improvement of the student’s thinking abilities, as well as the ability to build positive and effective relationships with others and thus is the spirit of cooperation and gives the student confidence in what gives the student confidence between them.

Field and practical training will also be relied upon so that students are trained in a practical way, and this helps the student to realize the requirements of reality and the ability to benefit from education and apply it on the ground, and then the ability to easily find suitable job opportunities for his specialization in the future upon graduation in the university.
