On May 22, 2025, second-year students from the Department of Accounting at the College of Administration and Economics, Lebanese French University, undertook a significant philanthropic visit to Nanakaly Hospital for Hematology and Oncology in Erbil. The program was conducted under the oversight of Lecturer Ms. Ronyaz Hayyas Mahmood and involved various academic members from the Accounting Department.
This visit occurred subsequent to a successful cultural event orchestrated by the same student group on April 24, 2025. The previous event, which honored Kurdish heritage through traditional cuisine and attire, functioned as both a cultural enrichment experience and a fundraising initiative. The cash generated from the cultural event was judiciously designated to assist youngsters with cancer.
Under the guidance of Ms. Ronyaz Hayyas Mahmood, the students utilized the raised funds to acquire an assortment of items, including toys and clothing, which were then distributed during their visit to Nanakaly Hospital. The students personally presented the gifts to the children receiving therapy, offering both practical assistance and emotional support. Extra gifts were contributed to the hospital for distribution among other young patients in the subsequent days.
This sequence of events exemplifies the department’s commitment to integrating cultural appreciation with social responsibility. It also reflects the university’s broader mission to foster community-oriented values among its students, emphasizing compassion, leadership, and active citizenship beyond the classroom setting.
