The department of Nursing at the college of Nursing organized a 6 session training course entitled ” First Aid” that was held every Monday from April 22,2024 – May 27,2024 at B#2 -LFU Campus.
The training course was organized by Prof. Dr. Yousif Muhammed Gardi & Asst. Lect. Muzhda Haydar Saber, the agenda of this course was as follows:
| 1-The first week: Recognizing emergency and syncope 2- Second Week: Airway emergencies (chocking) in child and adult 3-Third Week: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adult and child 4–Forth Week: Musculoskeletal emergency& wound and bleeding in child and adult 5-Fifth week: Poisoning and burn 6- Medical emergency and Convulsion |
Goals of First Aid Training Course
1. Increased Safety
First aid training classes can increase the safety of employees by providing them with first-aid knowledge and life-saving skills to respond to medical emergencies in the workplace.
2. Improved Morale
When employees feel confident in their ability to help in an emergency, they may feel more secure and valued in their workplace.
3. Enhanced Teamwork
The essential health and safety care courses can help to enhance teamwork in the workplace by fostering trust, boosting morale, and showing employees that they are valued and respected by their employers.

Having an employer provide first aid training to its employees can help to enhance the reputation of the company by showing that it cares about the well-being of its employees and that it is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy work environment.
5. Cost Savings
First aid certification for workplace employees can be cost-saving because it allows for prompt response to medical emergencies and minimizes risks of medical costs in the long run. With trained personnel, an employer can avoid costly lawsuits due to medical negligence and reduce medical bills for employees who require medical attention due to illnesses, injuries, or accidents.
