Training Course: “Linux Operating System”

The Information Technology Department of the College of Engineering and Computer Science conducted a six-sessions training course titled (Linux Operating System) from April 15 to 24, 2024. The course consisted of three sessions per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. . The Assistant lectures (Maryam Sarmad and Zina Yaaqub), were the moderators of this training. The final session of the training was led by Assistant lecture Zina Yaaqub on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. The session was attended by twenty trainees, most of whom were faculty members from the College of Engineering and Computer Science and other colleges of the Lebanese French University.

At the end of the last session, participants had acquired the following knowledge:

– Understanding Operating System fundamental.

– Explaining the roles of the kernel and shell in managing hardware resources and facilitating user interaction.

– Comparing the features of different operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, and Mac OS.

– Identify the components of a shell script, including the shebang line, script file structure, and basic shell commands.

– Executing and managing shell scripts: explains the process of making a shell script executable using
chmod and invoking it.
