International Workshop: “Literary Theory Feminism”

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Department of Computer Networks of the College of Engineering and Computer Science organized an international workshop for faculty members entitled “Literary Theory Feminism”. The session was moderated by Lecture. Dr. Monika Sharma and Associate Professor Dr. Kavita Tyagi. This workshop was attended by 20 physical and more than 15 online participants, most of whom came from various Lebanese-French University colleges and international universities.

Workshop Objectives:

The “Literary Theory Feminism” workshop provided an enriching platform for scholarly discourse on the intricate interplay between feminist theory and literary analysis. Participants engaged in rigorous examination of gender representation within literary texts, interrogating power structures, and dissecting the portrayal of female characters. Through the application of feminist literary criticism, attendees elucidated underlying themes of gender inequality, agency, and identity construction embedded within narrative frameworks. The workshop facilitated nuanced discussions that elucidated the multifaceted nature of feminist interpretations of literature, emphasizing the importance of critically engaging with texts to uncover latent socio-cultural ideologies. Participants were encouraged to employ theoretical frameworks to deconstruct and analyze the ways in which literature both reflects and shapes perceptions of gender within society. By fostering an environment of intellectual inquiry and scholarly exchange, the workshop underscored the significance of feminist literary theory in elucidating the complexities of gender dynamics in literary discourse.
