Department of Law held a national workshop

On Wednesday 31-1-2024 in the presence of the academic staff of the Lebanese French University, the Department of Law in the College of Law and International Relations held a national workshop entitled (Drugs and their dangers) for Mr. (Dr. Mohiuddin Hassan) lecturer at the Department of Law and Specialist in Public Law.

In the beginning, (Dr. Sulaf Abdullah) highlighted the importance of the law against drugs and mentally ill persons No. (50) of 2017 – Iraq and the law against drugs and mentally ill persons No. (1) of 2020 – Kurdistan, the reasons for the enactment of these laws, as well as the international strategy to combat drugs and the commitment of Iraq and Kurdistan to implement the mechanisms determined within the framework of this strategy.

In the second part of the event. (Dr. Mohiuddin Hassan) discussed the international agreements and the reasons for the increase in drug addiction, the types and punishments specified in the laws, and its dangers to society.

The results of this workshop show that the dangers of drug addiction have an impact on the expansion of organized crime and social security, so strengthening the legal and judicial system and raising individual awareness and the role of the media is necessary for law enforcement.
