Educational values of (reward and punishment) in the educational philosophy and approach of Maria Montessori

  • The purpose of the research is to know the reality of the educational values of the (reward and punishment) procedure in the educational philosophy and approach of Maria Montessori. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach. The study showed the following results:
    - The most common procedure of reward used in kindergarten are verbal and psychological reinforcement. They preceded the physical and symbolic reinforcement procedures.
    - The major reasons behind the use of rewarding with children in the kindergarten are those related to the encouragement of the child and the formation of positive behavior due to the role of reward and its importance in establishing the foundations of proper upbringing of children and guide their behavior in the right direction.
    - relating to the principles of reward and punishment use, it turned out that the most used principles , explain the causes of punishment to the child in order to avoid mistakes because conversation and dialogue with the child enable us to understand and guide their behavior as well as, listening attentively to the them before punishment. .
    - The most important alternative procedure to the use of punishment is reinforcing the positive behaviors for children and focusing on promoting an effective alternative tactic because it is best and most effective.
    - According to the philosophies of modern education as the philosophy of Montessori, its important to educate kindergartens teacher's the procedures of reward and punishment in addition to high education.
