Dr. Hawkar Hamad is a Lecturer at the Department of Accounting and Finance, College of Business and Economics, Lebanese French University (LFU), located in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting and Finance from Cyprus International University, and has over five years of academic experience in teaching, research, and academic advising.
Dr. Hamad began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Accounting from Cihan University, Erbil. He went on to complete his Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at Near East University, Cyprus, in 2019. He later pursued his doctoral studies at Cyprus International University, where he specialized in contemporary issues in accounting, corporate governance, financial transparency, and banking sector development.
Throughout his career at LFU, Dr. Hawkar has been actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervising student research projects, and participating in departmental and college-level academic development initiatives. He has attended numerous seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs organized by local and international institutions, enhancing his teaching methods and research expertise.
His research interests include financial reporting quality, corporate governance mechanisms, accounting standards (IFRS), banking sector reforms, and the application of financial technologies. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at national and international conferences.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Hawkar contributes to curriculum design, internal quality assurance, and student advising, playing a vital role in enhancing the educational environment within the College of Business and Economics.
