On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Lebanese French University, College of Education and Languages, the Department of General Education hosted a national workshop titled “Bilingualism and Its Types.” The workshop explored both theoretical and practical aspects of bilingualism, delving into how bilinguals function and the societal impacts of bilingual communication.
The workshop approached “context” not only in its conventional sense—referring to bilingual individuals—but also as the broader environment and cultural exchanges facilitated by multilingual communication.
The session began with the first presenter offering an overview of key concepts related to bilingualism and introducing the subsequent speakers. The second presenter then provided an in-depth exploration of the various types of bilingualism, discussing their distinct characteristics and implications. The workshop concluded with an engaging discussion involving the 20 staff members in attendance, fostering collaborative insights and shared learning.
