On November 10, 2024, the Department of Information Technology in the College of Engineering and Computer Science held a national workshop entitled: Introduction to Docker which was presented by Asst. Lect. Halmat Ayub.
A key point of discussion was understanding why into why containerization has become essential in addressing traditional deployment challenges, such as inconsistent environments and dependency conflicts. The workshop provided participants with foundational knowledge on containerization as a solution for efficient and consistent application deployment.
Docker is introduced as a powerful platform that simplifies deployment, ensuring a fast, scalable, and reliable environment through lightweight containers. Core concepts, including containers, images, Docker files, volumes, and networks, are explained, along with a comparison between Docker containers and virtual machines. Participants learned best practices for Docker deployment, enabling streamlined workflows and enhanced application management across diverse environments.
