On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Lecturer Hoshyar Abdulrahman and Assistant Lecturer Dlvin Sherzad gave a National Workshop titled “How to Calculate Your Carbon Footprint,” which was held at Seminar Hall. Faculty, staff, Students, and environmental activists gathered for this event to talk about how important it is to identify and reduce individual carbon footprints in order to ensure a sustainable future.
In order to protect the environment, Lecturer Hoshyar Abdulrahman emphasized the importance of quantifying carbon emissions from both individuals and organizations throughout the session. He clarified that people might recognize their direct influence on climate change and take concrete measures to mitigate it by evaluating their everyday activities, including energy use, transportation patterns, and waste management.
The event’s interactive carbon footprint calculation exercise, which gave participants a personal understanding of their environmental influence, was one of its main highlights. Participants were actively involved in this practical exercise, which also promoted a sense of urgency and accountability for tackling environmental challenges.
Making more sustainable decisions in daily life requires an awareness of one’s carbon footprint, according to lecturer Hoshyar Abdulrahman.
This is a call to action for all of us to think about how our choices impact the environment, he said, not merely an academic exercise.
Attendees gave the program positive reviews and came away with a newfound understanding of their environmental effects and ways to lessen them. It reaffirmed the Lebanese French University’s dedication to raising environmental consciousness and supporting workable solutions to address climate change.
