National Workshop: “Text Compression Using Two Bytes Technique”

The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Information Technology, organized a national workshop titled: “Text Compression Using Two Bytes Technique” for faculty members on February 15, 2024. The meeting lasted from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The session was moderated by: (Assistant lecturer Ghassan Akram Qattan) from Lebanese-French University, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Computer Engineering.

Workshop Outcomes:

  • An introduction to commonly used text compression algorithms and the properties of two-byte text, as well as important terminology related to text compression, is presented.
  • Due to the rapid growth of two-byte texts, the processing of two-byte information is becoming an interesting research topic.
  • There is a great need for powerful two-byte text compression algorithms for text files such as newspapers, magazines, dictionaries and novels.
  • Finally, the challenges and weaknesses of two-byte text compression algorithms and proposed solutions are discussed in detail.
