  • The Iraqi Kurdistan and France have maintained a long-standing relationship rooted in friendship and politics. Our research focuses on highlighting the areas where France's support for the Kurdistan region is evident. The aim of this study is to shed light on the nature and origins of the relationship between these two countries, particularly the significance of European support from France. We have identified four key domains: education, culture, economy, and politics.

To gather relevant information, we conducted interviews with various cultural and educational stakeholders at the French Institute. Additionally, for the political and economic aspects, we relied on data collected from online resources, including interviews with politicians and economists, as well as written articles.

To address the research question concerning France's support for the Iraqi Kurdistan region in the political sphere, we conducted multiple interviews and a survey. The survey involved professors from the Faculty of Law and International Relations. The interviews were conducted with a politician from the External Relations department of the Kurdistan Regional Government, in collaboration with the Government's representative, as well as the Head of the European Office at the External Relations Bureau of the PDK.

In conclusion, French assistance has had a significant impact on the political, military, and economic sectors in the region, particularly in the political arena. However, support in the economic, cultural, and educational domains currently remains inadequate.
