Mental Health Awareness

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, the Department of Sociology held an international workshop entitled ” Mental Health Awareness”. The workshop’s first session was presented by Lecturer. Suzan Sabri, head of Sociology department. Suzan, at the beginning of the workshop, Suzan gave a short introduction talked about the importance of the topic and the importance of the Mental Health Awareness. In the second session, Parya Sardar Nia shared some statistics regarding mental health problems in different workplaces in Europe. Sardar Nia also concentrated on the risks, signs and symptoms, and developments concerning mental health issues such as stress and burn out. The workshop aimed to demonstrate on managing stress and the recognition of burnout symptoms in early stages. Finally, both speakers discussed and answered questions raised by the participants of the workshop. The workshop was attended by a number of guests from outside Kurdistan and a number of different teachers from the mentioned university as well as third- and fourth-year students from the Sociology Department.

Workshop Outcome:

  1. Understanding the concept of Mental Awareness
  2. Important information and data was giving regarding mental disorders in workplaces and how to manage these issues at workplaces.
  3. Analyze the concept of Mental Health Awareness
