Training Course “Using DevOps for Systems Development”

The College of Engineering and Computer Science held a six-week training course from November 22 to December 23, with two sessions per week (Monday and Thursday at 12:00 p.m.), presented by Mohamed Sardar, Assistant Lecturer in the Information Technology Department.

On Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, at 12:00 p.m., the College of Engineering and Computer Science/Department of Information Technology held the last session of the training course “Using DevOps for Systems Development.” This course was conducted by Assistant Lecturer Mohamed Sardar, who looked at a variety of intriguing elements of using and applying DevOps for Systems Development, and the DevOps culture which has taken over the software industry and permanently changed the way many organizations do their work. DevOps is a culture of collaboration between Development and Operations teams that is supported by a variety of practices and tools. Through practices such as monitoring, CI/CD, and blameless retrospectives we can reliably deliver software with great speed and high-quality. In this course, you will learn about this culture, these practices, and more! There were 20 trainees in attendance, most of them were faculty members from the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Training Outcomes:

  • The steps that changes to software go through to get from a developer’s computer to its users
  • The role and responsibilities of a traditional Operations team
  • An overview of modern infrastructure management
  • The difference between a DevOps culture and that of a traditional organization
  • The purposes of key practices such as CI/CD, monitoring, and containerization
  • The role of scalability, observability, and resiliency in a modern software system

Trainer Information:

Mohammed Sardar Ali is an Assistant Lecturer at the College of Engineering and Computer Science, Lebanese – French University (Kurdistan region, Iraq). He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kurdistan Hawler (Kurdistan region, Iraq). A Bachelor of Science from Tishk International University, in Computer Engineering. Before joining LFU, Mohammed has worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the College of Engineering, Bayan University from 2019 to 2020.
