Department of Arabic Language


Arabic is a widely spoken language. The university is correspondingly offering this new course of Arabic Language is the academic year of 2017 – 2018. by immersing yourself in the study of Arabic, you’ll reach deep conclusions about the nature of the language and discover the forces that have shaped it over time. you’ll learn from world-leading academics, whose expertise covers topics from forensic phonetics to sociolinguistics. you’ll develop skills of analysis and critical thinking through the study of one of the world’s influential languages. The course offers a communicative approach to learning and the interactive approach in teaching to develop all five languages skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing and cultural awareness. The aim of the course is to build and prepare students to be part of the development the society and the country need through the Arabic language.

The Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education and Languages at the Lebanese French University / Erbil seeks for pioneering lead and uniqueness locally and regionally through the graduating scientific competencies and accessing a high level of quality in teaching, research, and service of the university and society

Mission:

The Department of Arabic Language seeks to provide an appropriate learning environment, to hold systematic and extracurricular activities, to make scientific research a priority for serving the local community, to prepare literary and linguistic specialists with research and professional skills to contribute effectively to the development of society and to the needs of the labor market.

Objectives:

-Interest in the language of the Holy Quran, as a means to a proper and accurate understanding of the texts of religion and Islamic heritage, and familiar with Arab culture in general.

-Preparation of scientific competencies specialized in the fields of Arabic language and literature: education, research, and practice.

-To meet the contemporary development needs associated with different areas of Arabic language and skills.

-Developing students’ linguistic and cognitive skills and developing their critical thinking skills, as well as raising the level of professional and research teachers.

-Provide linguistic, literary and cultural counseling.

-Graduates specialized in Arabic language sciences suitable for the needs of the community and cover the labor market of language and literature specialties.

-Contribute to the service of the community; to implement the programs organized by the university to develop the language skills of staff, writers, preachers, media and so on.

Admission Requirements / Arabic department 
 1. The applicant should be a graduate of the preparatory school in both its scientific and literary branches.
2. The general average should not be less than (%60).
3. The degree in the subject of Arabic language should not be less than (%60).
