On Thursday, 23rd of November 2023, College of Education and Languages, Department of English Language held a national workshop entitled ” The methodology of teaching in the classroom ” . The workshop’s first session was presented by Asst.Lect. Sarah Kayfi Akram, an instructor at Department of English Language. She gave an introduction of the methodology of teaching in the classroom by displaying many slide shows like : My first lesson, Cooperate, and Managing the board.
In the second session, Asst. Lect. Shilan Abdulrahman, an instructor at Department of English Language, demonstrated some slide shows about how to teach phonetics and grammar as a foreign language. As well as the online games that can be played in the classroom by the students, in order to improve their language learning experience. In the last session, Asst. Lect. Sarah Kayfi Akram, explained the topics of being teacher-mediator, which shows the learning strategies and evaluations. And at the end, she presented a check list of good practices for a teacher to follow. The participants discussed the approaches of teaching that are applied in the classroom and the possibilities of improvement.
Workshop Outcome
1- Enhance the methodology of teaching in the classroom.
2- Empowering academic staff to use innovative teaching tools.
3- The importance of the variety of methods of teaching in the classroom and the importance of the methodology adopted.
