Department of Law conducted a national workshop entitled: “The obstacles in front of Iraq’s political process and the possibilities of canceling the representative’s Council and holding another pre-election”.

On Thursday, 5th of Oct, 2022, the Department of Law at Lebanese French Univeristy conducted a national workshop entitled: “The obstacles in front of Iraq’s political process and the possibilities of canceling the representatives Council and holding another pre-election.”. The first session of the workshop started with assistant lecturer Kareem Kawa Rayati, providing an introduction to the topic and explained the current situation in Iraq, This was followed by a brief explanation of the many dimensions inside Iraq. The second session of the workshop was led by Dr. Yassin Mahmood, an advisor in the Kurdistan Parliament, providing a number of examples about the topic and the comparison of the situation in Iraq now to the starting point after the Saddam Hussein’s regime. The focus was on the main reasons of the issues which has led to a huge obstacle for establishing a new cabinet in Iraq.
As part of the final section of the workshop, assistant lecturer Hawar Muhammed, explained the Law on elections which is itself an obstacle for the political process in Iraq, the solutions were further put forward for discussion. At the end of the workshop, the attendees directed their comments and questions to the workshop’s presenters.
