Gender from a Sociological and Linguistic Perception

On, February 10, 2022, the Department of Sociology held the national workshop entitled ” Gender from a Sociological and Linguistic Perception” The workshop’s first session was presented by Suzan Sabri head of Sociology department and an independent researcher (Mr. Minwas Jamal Rasheed). The workshop aimed to introduce and discuss the main characteristics of gender in society and how gender operates in the Kurdish mother-tongue. The main points of discussion was that in the Kurdistan Region there is different dialects in terms of gender-based language and these differences are impacting the informal language that Kurd’s speak in the Kurdish society.
