The college of Law and international relations laid its foundation bricks in 2007 as the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research gives much shrifts to expanding the research foundations to keep pace with the drastic nowadays development in all the walks of life and to embrace the decreasing number of the province population in training scientific cadres competent to offer scientific and educational services to their vicinity in the short run and their country in the long run. These departments introduce you to the many ways you can learn, work, and grow at LFU Law and international relations college. The first two successful departments (Law and International relations) were founded in 2007 and now the college consists of four different departments, (legal administration) It begins with the student in case of acceptance at the University and continue with academically follow up with him/her since 2013 – 2014, Diplomacy and international relations since 2014 – 2015, and Sociology department since 2017-2018.
The College has set ambitious and expanding plans in line with the University strategies to form community partnerships, establish a comprehensive quality system and encourage research through the development of an infrastructure of a conducive academic environment with new departments aiming for attracting qualified cadres at both the national and international levels in order to cope with the increasing number of admitted students in various specialties. With a complete infrastructure and determination for success, the College aspires for the development of a modern educational as well as research environment that can stimulate innovation among a new generation of students capable of carrying the torch to a new and an aspiring future.
The College seeks to be a pioneer in the domain of legal education, training and consultancies at local, regional and international levels in accordance with international and local requirements for accreditation, quality assurance and safety performance.The College strives to attain its objectives & accomplish its mission as part of its future vision in accordance with the following values: commitment, proficiency, professionalism, perfection, transparency, justice, inclusion, effective mutual communication, quality, distinction & excellence. Education is an ever changing dynamic process, keeping in tune with recent changes in the educational dynamics new ways of learning have to be devised. The educational institutes can no longer remains places of one-way traffic in learning, but have to assume the role of nerve centres for vibrant, creative and activity oriented learning, where is a teacher is no more a facilitator but is a co-learner.
Our role as educators extends far beyond teaching in the classroom. We prepare students not just for their future careers but also for lives of responsibility and societal leadership. LFU is a private non-governmental educational institution – Faculty of law and international relations aims to nurture students into sensitive, ethical and critically conscious citizen who will contribute responsibly to their communities and society.The college also invites distinguished academicians, legal luminaries, administrative and jurists regularly. We pledge to furnish our students with bright future prospects on the global front by equipping them with legal education and henceforth enriching the society.
To fulfil this mission, the College of Law seeks to accomplish the following objectives:
- 1-The College of Law shall make legal education available to diverse and non-traditional law students.
- 2-Learn the law and legal principles in a variety of subject areas as well as understand legal procedures and practices.
- 3-Recognize and apply the ethical rules and standards of conduct involved in the practice of law and to be observed by paralegals.
- 4-The College of Law shall offer an innovative curriculum that integrates traditional legal analysis and practical skills.
- 5-The College of Law shall offer specialty programs that complement LFU areas of expertise and that are suited to the Kurdistan area.
- 6-The College of Law shall offer legal education in a global context.
- 7-To extend to the students an environment which is both stimulating and challenging where they can grasp the characteristic discourse features of the various branches of law and international relations.
- 8-To promote student's awareness of the role of law and a sense of leadership and service to the community.
